Citizen introduces the latest evolution of its acclaimed Tsuyosa watch collection, dubbed the Shore series. Building upon the foundation of accessible, stylish, and robust automatic timepieces, these new models integrate a rotating bezel and enhanced water resistance, positioning them as perfect accessories for dynamic, water-centric activities. The Tsuyosa line has consistently delivered appealing designs and solid construction since its 2022 debut, with prior iterations exploring diverse dial hues and alternative sizes. The Shore collection represents a fresh direction, marrying sporty functionality with vibrant aesthetics.
Since its initial launch, the Citizen Tsuyosa collection has consistently garnered appreciation within the market for affordable yet sophisticated automatic watches. Its characteristic blend of athletic appeal and refined elegance has made it a favored choice for many. Previous releases have seen the introduction of new dial colors and a more compact 37mm variant, while a recent premium offering, the Tsuyosa 60 Automatic, further expanded its appeal. Now, following a distinctive collaboration, the Tsuyosa prepares for summer with these vibrant new Shore editions.
The core design elements of the original 40mm Tsuyosa remain largely intact in the Shore collection. This includes the distinctive mid-case, the integrated bracelet design reminiscent of 1980s aesthetics, and the harmonious fusion of sportiness and elegance. The Shore models retain the familiar 40mm diameter, combining brushed and polished stainless steel finishes. The crown is still subtly positioned at 4 o'clock, and a sapphire crystal with a date magnifier ensures durability and readability. The watches continue to feature a transparent screw-down caseback and the signature three-link steel bracelet, preserving the series' beloved characteristics.
The most notable enhancements in the Shore collection are the addition of a unidirectional rotating bezel, equipped with a 60-minute scale on a metallic insert, and an upgrade in water resistance. This new bezel significantly alters the Tsuyosa's appearance, imbuing it with a more pronounced athletic character and a distinct summer vibe. The bezel's insert is meticulously color-matched to the dial, creating a cohesive look. Furthermore, the water resistance has been elevated to 100 meters, a substantial improvement over the standard versions' 50 meters, underscoring the collection's suitability for active use. These functional updates result in a slightly thicker profile, with the Shore models measuring 12.50mm compared to the previous 11.70mm.
While the overall dial design maintains continuity, subtle refinements have been introduced. The sunray-brushed finish persists, and both the applied hour markers and hands are coated with luminous material for enhanced visibility. A minor but significant update is the more intricate sub-second track on the minute scale, alongside larger hour and minute hands and a lollipop-style seconds hand. The Tsuyosa Shore collection offers four distinct variants: two full steel models with either a deep navy blue or a lighter turquoise marine blue dial and bezel; a striking bi-color edition featuring a coral red dial and bezel with partial yellow gold plating; and a full yellow gold-plated option with a moss green dial and bezel. Each model's hands and markers are coordinated with the case color.
Internally, the Tsuyosa Shore models continue to be powered by Citizen's reliable in-house automatic Calibre 8210 movement, a fixture in both the 40mm and 37mm Tsuyosa lines. This robust movement operates at 3Hz and provides a power reserve of approximately 42 hours, also featuring a stop-seconds function. All timepieces are secured with a steel bracelet and a folding clasp, available in uncoated, partially yellow gold-coated, or fully yellow gold-coated finishes to complement the watch's case.
Scheduled for release in February 2026 as a permanent addition to the collection, the Citizen Tsuyosa Shore models are priced competitively. The full steel blue versions will retail for EUR 329, the two-tone coral red edition for EUR 349, and the moss green variant for EUR 359. This collection reinforces Citizen's commitment to offering high-quality, stylish, and functional timepieces at an accessible price point.
